Exploring The Places We Hide

Welcome to an invitation to discover where you’ve been hiding from who you truly are – who you were created to be.

Life gives us plenty of opportunities to hide behind socially defined behaviors – our relationships, our work, our addictions – and even our distractions.

What I’ve discovered is that What We Don’t Own…Owns Us.

In Exploring…The Places We Hide, I will:

  • Illuminate the importance of acknowledging fear. We need to be with it and not against it to learn from it and not hide in it.
  • Disrupt the notion that comfort zones are actually comfortable. We hide here.
  • Transition from reaction to response. We can change.

Participants will:

  • Be awakened to an understanding of the places we hide within ourselves.
  • Be empowered to make decisions that are in alignment with their values and beliefs.
  • Be inspired to invite perspective and create decision shifts that lead to big life changes.

The Tree of Belief

Perspective defines reality – and perspective is often formed without our permission through our early childhood influences and also gained through our life experiences and society’s norms.

They are “assigned” to us.

Those beliefs often become our values, which ultimately influence our thoughts – which will then guide our actions – which then impact our decisions – which then create our life.

The branches of the tree are the places where we hide – where fear dominates our thoughts and our actions – the way we protect ourselves, get our needs met – a way to feel unabandoned and loved.

We’re behaving in ways that have nothing to do with who we are. They have everything to do with the beliefs or values that were assigned to us.

Here, we will explore the thoughts, fears, and insecurities of those who raised us, not to condemn them, but to better understand how they affected the way we navigate our relationships – those with others, but mostly with ourselves.

This is key to freeing ourselves from the emotional purgatory that so many of us live in because we consciously or unconsciously may be hiding in the unhealed wounds of those who influenced our lives.

We do not know who we are until we learn who we are not.

Participants will begin to:

  • Understand how their beliefs affect their experience of life.

  • Determine how their beliefs could be sabotaging them.

  • Create a new belief system.

Evolving in the “Space Between” Fear and Knowingness

Change takes work. Evolving takes commitment.

The Space Between Fear and Knowingness is alchemy. This space is tough.

And if you don’t get in that space, nothing will change. This space is where you do the work.

If you want your life to change, you have to dive in and swim – even if you don’t see the shore on the other side of the lake.

Sometimes you’ll want to stop swimming, but you can’t. If you do, you’ll drown in the places you hide.

Once in that space, you will be required to know your fear, welcome it, and swim through it. Here you will come ot know yourself. This is freedom.

Remember…

What You Don’t Own…Owns You.

Participants will discover how to:

  • Trust their struggle.

  • Discover that fear is a call for attention, not avoidance.

  • Know that in the space of the unknown transformation happens.

Are You Shushing Yourself?

When hide in the excuses of our life, we sacrifice ourselves in our personal and professional relationships. We often make choices in order to receive the love and approval of others. We silence ourselves.

We know when we’re doing this. We are needy, people-pleasing, and avoidant. We often catch ourselves apologizing for who we are.

Here, we will explore how we:

  • Alter our voices to accommodate the needs of others.

  • Deceive ourselves by ignoring the truth of who we are.

  • Self-betrayal affects our bodies, minds, and spirits.

Participants will be encouraged to:

  • Illuminate the illusion of compromise in self-dismissiveness.

  • Acknowledge where they’ve been shushing themselves.

  • Use their voices in confidence rather than resistance.
